Don't Mess with Texas Universities: Students Pledge Greener Move Outs in the Lone Star State
Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 30, 2015 -- On the heels of Earth Day 2015 comes one of the biggest recycling and waste diversion opportunities of the year. Spring move out season is upon us, as thousands of college students across the Lone Star State prepare to pack up their belongings and move out of dorm room residences. These annual campus migrations generate thousands of pounds of textile material waste which are dumped directly into local municipal landfills.
But this year, students at seven notable Texas universities have joined the Move2Recycle Campaign and pledged to make move outs cleaner and greener for all. Sponsored by American Textile Recycling Service (ATRS), a Texas based company, the program provides easy and convenient on-campus recycling solutions for students sorting, storing or shipping their personal belongings in preparation for the summer.
ATRS Clothing & Shoe Recyclers will be placed near student housing facilities at the University of Houston Main and Clear Lake campus, Texas A&M University - Galveston, Texas Woman's University, The University of Texas, Austin Community College, San Antonio College and Texas Christian University. Every item collected will be reused, repurposed or recycling and every pound collected will generate much-needed funding for an area charity.
"Working with these universities to educate students about the benefits of textile recycling is a huge privilege," says David Taylor, Houston Market Team Manager, "We are proud Texans and passionate about protecting local landfills in the communities where we live, work and play."
