Iroquois Valley Farms announces acquisition, land access for New York Organic Dairy Farmer
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 04, 2015 -- Iroquois Valley Farms, LLC, a leading organic farmland leasing company, announced the acquisition of Earlville Farm, a 177-acre dairy farm in Madison County, NY. The Company’s impact investment, which was made through its Young Farmer Land Access Program, is providing land access via a long-term lease for millennial farmer Derek Csendom and his family.
The Csendom family is a great fit for Iroquois Valley Farms and its Young Farmer Land Access Program. After the closing, Tom Perry, Chief Operating Officer, stated: “We are extremely excited to be working with Derek and his family. This young couple has an impressive track record of building an organic dairy business and the land access we are providing in Madison County will be integral for their continued growth.”
The Csendoms will be moving with their herd of certified organic Ayrshire milk cows to the new property in early May. By working with Iroquois Valley Farms, the Csendom family was able to obtain long-term land tenure, gaining additional acreage for growth and security for further investment in their dairy business.
David E. Miller, CEO and Co-Founder, commented: “We are excited to be helping another young farmer grow healthy foods and restore soil health through organic farming practices. With this acquisition, over two thirds of our farm tenants are now millennial and part of our Young Famer Land Access Program.”
The Earlville Farm acquisition is Iroquois Valley Farms' third farm in the Northeast and second in New York state. As of this closing, the Company owns and leases over 3,000 acres of organic or transitioning farmland, located in seventeen counties among seven Midwest, Great Lakes, New England and Atlantic states.
