vRad’s Arlene Sussman, MD to Speak at 2015 Medical Imaging Spring Symposium at Cancer Treatment Centers of America’s Southeastern Regional Medical Center
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (PRWEB) May 01, 2015 -- vRad (Virtual Radiologic), the nation’s leading radiology practice and largest telemedicine company, announced that Medical Director Arlene Sussman, MD will be giving a lecture to an audience of physicians, technicians and other clinical staff at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA)’s Southeastern Regional Medical Center on Saturday, May 2, in Atlanta.
The lecture, entitled “Radiology of the Post-treatment Patient,” will discuss how to identify expected findings in mammogram, ultrasound and MRI images following surgical or oncologic treatment of breast cancer. The lecture will also discuss how to distinguish between scar tissue and recurrence, as well as differentiate between post-treatment change and residual cancer.
“Radiology for post-treatment cancer patients has special requirements, especially for women treated for breast cancer because of the risk for repeat occurrences,” said Dr. Sussman. “As the number of breast-cancer survivors increases, there is a need to formalize and enhance patient management and monitoring after treatment. I am pleased to have the opportunity to share and discuss these issues at CTCA. This kind of forum encourages collaborative instruction and discussion and is a testament to CTCA’s desire to continue to educate its staff. Such initiatives allow CTCA to continue to provide exceptional clinical care and highly personalized patient experiences.”
