Las Vegas In-Home Care Agency Sponsors Cleveland Clinic Event Press Release
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) May 14, 2015 -- Visiting Angels, a recognized in-home care agency in Las Vegas with a location in nearby Henderson, will be sponsoring the SuperBrains: Exploring the Neuroscience of Extraordinary Abilities event hosted by The Cleveland Clinic on May 15 and 16. The SuperBrains program is scheduled to take place at the Keep Memory Alive Event Center on Friday, May 15 and at Las Vegas’ renowned Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino on Saturday, May 16. The educational focus of the program is to gain a better understanding of the neuroscience of the brain while underpinning examples of exceptional human abilities and behavior.
Aimed at psychologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, social workers, educators and allied health professionals with an interest in brain development and preservation, the SuperBrains event will provide information on using positive neuroscience to optimize and enhance the quality of life for patients, colleagues and oneself, while allowing healthcare providers to learn about these positive aspects of neuroscience in order to enhance their own clinical practices.
Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to describe how the brain changes in response to practice on a specific task and development of subject-matter expertise, demonstrate successful brain aging and the underlying factors that contribute to cognitive longevity, identify the neural underpinnings of humor development and its influence on resilience over a lifespan, describe the differences between everyday creativity and exceptional creativity, recognize the positive and negative aspects of stress and employ strategies including mindfulness to optimize creativity in him or herself as well as in clients.
Sarah Banks, PhD, ABPPN/CN, head of the Neuropsychology Program at The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas, has been designated course director for the SuperBrains event, bringing with her a plethora of experience involving characterizing patients’ cognitive profiles and integrating this information with medical and psychological factors to help with diagnosis and in suggesting appropriate interventions. Further, she has made a name for herself assessing patients with disorders including dementia, multiple sclerosis and movement disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease, as well as other neurological conditions.
