Norwich, CT (PRWEB) May 05, 2015 -- (RISE:NYC) Resiliency Innovations for a Stronger Economy is a New York City Economic Development Corporation competition designed to seek out promising resiliency technologies to help small businesses impacted by Hurricane Sandy prepare for future storms, sea level rise, and other effects of climate change, while strengthening New York City's long-term resiliency efforts. Due to the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the need to protect NYC small businesses from damage caused by future storms is vital. With 30 million dollars in a federal grant available, winners were eligible to receive funding to implement their resiliency technologies to Hurricane Sandy impacted small businesses across the five boroughs. With over 200 applicants worldwide, F. William Brown LLC's proposal was one of eleven selected to win this prestigious award. Their winning proposal was based on an industry leading ability to prevent flood damage to city buildings using patented SPS flood barriers.
"RISE:NYC is part of the City's comprehensive suite of initiatives to mitigate the effects of severe weather and climate change on New Yorkers, and all of the winning technologies will help support and strengthen small businesses across the City," said NYCEDC President Kyle Kimball.
