USAgencies helps kids throughout Louisiana learn about entrepreneurship on Lemonade Day
Baton Rouge, Louisiana (PRWEB) May 04, 2015 -- For the fourth consecutive year, USAgencies is helping kids throughout Louisiana learn about entrepreneurship. On Saturday, May 2nd from 1:00-4:00p.m. (some stands will open sooner), USAgencies throughout Louisiana will host scores of kids as they set up and operate lemonade stands for Lemonade Day. Lemonade Day is a community-wide educational program that teaches youth the entrepreneurial skills necessary to start, own, and operate their own business by starting a lemonade stand.
“USAgencies started participating in Lemonade Day in 2012, just a year after LemonadeDay.org was launched in Louisiana,” said Robert Bondi, President of Confie Insurance Group Holdings, parent company of USAgencies. “We immediately saw how valuable the program was in helping kids learn about business and entrepreneurship. It has been such a rewarding event, we’ve not only participated every year since, we’ve expanded our sponsorship to kids in Dallas and Chicago as well.”
Youth ages 4-18 are invited to participate in Lemonade Day. Upon registration, participants are provided with a free yellow backpack which includes a workbook, marketing tips, and a guide for mentors. In planning their lemonade stands, each child is taught 14 lessons from their workbook. Lesson topics include how to set goals, develop a business plan, secure an investor, create a product, make a profit, and give back to the community.
For USAgencies, Lemonade Day is not just a one day annual event. On April 14th, for example, the company participated in an organized backpack drop off, where they delivered the yellow packpacks to Glen Oaks Elementary in Baton Rouge. Prior to the event, USAgencies also promotes Lemonade Day through in-store advertising and social media.
Executive Director of Lemonade Day of Louisiana, Jordan Piazza, commented: "We are so excited to celebrate the fifth annual Lemonade Day here in Louisiana. The entire community is encouraged to support these young entrepreneurs by buying a glass of lemonade from the many stands set-up throughout the state. Together with our amazing sponsors, partners, and supporters, we have opened 18,000 new businesses on Lemonade Day. We could not do this without the support of great organizations like USAgencies."
With the money earned from their lemonade stands, kids are taught to spend a little, save a little, and share a little, donating a portion of their proceeds to a local charity of their choice. After covering their expenses and paying back their investors, the program encourages children to open a youth savings account.
