Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 06, 2015 -- Talent acquisition consulting and recruitment services firm TalentRISE today announced that it is partnering with ConnectVETS to help U.S. military veterans more effectively transition to the civilian workforce, enable employers to better connect with this experienced talent pool and, if applicable, meet the new regulations for veteran hiring.
In September of 2013, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) published an amendment to the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) prohibiting federal contractors from discriminating in employment against protected veterans and requiring them to take affirmative action to recruit, hire, promote and retain these veterans.
“Our clients are telling us that what works for recruiting a civilian workforce clearly is not working as well for employers seeking to recruit the roughly 2.8 million men and women who have transitioned from military to civilian life over the past dozen years,” said Carl Kutsmode, Managing Partner at TalentRISE. “Employers need to fundamentally rethink their recruitment approach for this population, from targeted outreach and compliance tracking to re-writing job descriptions so transferable skills are effectively matched. Training recruiters and hiring managers, and adjusting on-boarding and cultural assimilation programs to ensure a high-touch experience, are critically important components to effectively attract and engage this valuable talent pool."
“The new government mandates for federal contractors is creating added employer pressure around compliance to meet a 7% of workforce veteran hiring goal over the next few years,” said Emily Garrity, co-founder of ConnectVETS. “Our mission is to remove barriers to employment for veterans and employers. We believe TalentRISE’s strategic approach and deep expertise in specialized talent acquisition coupled with our industry insights and veteran career transition coaching will more effectively address these military recruitment challenges through tailored consulting, training and recruiting solutions.”
