These nominees are making great strides to improve security, risk and privacy not only for their own organizations, but the industry as a whole.

T.E.N., a technology and information security executive networking and relationship-marketing firm, honored finalists and winners Thursday evening, May 7, at the 2015 ISE® Central Executive Forum and Awards Gala at the Sheraton Downtown Hotel in Dallas, TX.

Vickie Miller, chief information security officer for FICO, was selected as the Information Security Executive® of the Year Award winner for the ISE® Central Region. Miller serves as Senior Director/CISO of cybersecurity and analytics for FICO. Her scope of responsibilities includes governance, risk and compliance, operations and incident response, audit, privacy and cyber analytics. She has 15 years in information security leading audit, compliance, and security operations as well as effectively incorporating cyber intelligence, threat and vulnerability management into the security program.

Scott Pettigrew, VP, chief security officer for HMS, and Mike Coogan, chief information security officer for Waste Management, were honored during the event as finalists in the executive category. Pettigrew also won the 2015 ISE® Central People’s Choice Award. This award represents the nominee who best exemplifies information security leadership as voted on by his peers in information security.

ISE® Central Project of the Year was GE Oil & Gas’s “Project SAND,” which better positioned the organization today to counter the information security threats of tomorrow. Project SAND is a global information security program designed to increase GE Oil & Gas’ ability to embrace new technology and the new mobile workforce. SAND is comprised of 3 key objectives: secure third party connections, harden internet facing application infrastructure and simplify the complex Active Directory landscape.

Project finalists included The Ohio State University’s “Information Security Framework: Phase 1,” Waste Management’s “NextGen Identity and Access Management” and USAA’s “Biometric Logon for Mobile App.”
