Prestigious Longwood Gardens selects Neptune Benson’s ProStrainer™
Coventry, Rhode Island (PRWEB) May 05, 2015 -- The ProStrainer™ is a professional grade basket strainer that aids in water filtration. Designed for high flow water delivery systems, it is often used in applications such as public fountains, pools and water parks.
Longwood Gardens, in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, is considered one of the great gardens of the world. The Gardens combine design, horticulture, education, and the arts to interplay and inspire more than one million guests each year.
The Fountain Revitalization Project is the largest restoration and renovation project in Longwood’s 109-year year history. The focus of the project is the Main Fountain Garden with 10,000 gallons of water circulated per minute, hundreds (380 jets) of jets, pumps, nozzles and 724 lights.
“We want to use the best product on a project of this caliber and the ProStrainer™ is second to none,” said Longwood Gardens Senior Plumber Ron Stapleford. “It offers a great combination of performance, ease of use, energy savings, and reliability.”
Neptune Benson’s ProStrainer™ requires less maintenance than typical pot strainers and reduces energy needs by putting less stress on a pump by utilizing Horizontal Laminar Flow; it also offers the most holding capacity by volume than any other strainer on the market.
After experiencing maintenance issues with fiberglass strainers in 2014, Longwood went in search of a more reliable and longer lasting stainless steel strainer. Longwood made the purchase of the ProStrainer™ to evaluate prior to making a decision on its use in the Fountain Revitalization Project.
“Prior to installation, the fiberglass strainer required daily cleaning; with the ProStrainer™ installed, cleaning is required typically just once every three weeks and the holding capacity is unbelievable,” said Jack Dunbar, Senior Plumber, Fountain and Water Treatment Specialist at Longwood.
The project will require a total of 37 basket strainers sized up to 18 inch pipe diameter. Due to the low profile of the ProStrainer™, energy savings from greater net positive suction head, compared to a pot strainer will be significant. John Perry, Design Engineer with Fluidity who was awarded the project stated, “We expect Longwood to see a considerable return on investment based on the ProStrainer’s™ energy savings over time.”
