Gatlinburg Beans and Cornbread Festival: Presented by Bush Brothers & Company
Gatlinburg, Tennessee (PRWEB) May 06, 2015 -- Gatlinburg will celebrate its Appalachian culinary past during a festive, fun-filled event on Thursday, May 14 – Gatlinburg Beans and Cornbread Festival presented by Bush Brothers & Company. The event will feature a beans and cornbread cook-off, foot-stompin’ Smoky Mountain music, antique engines and lots of beans and cornbread for tasting!
New this year is the addition of antique engines and strolling musicians playing old timey Appalachian music. “The antique engines are a unique addition to the festival this year,” said city spokesperson, Marci Claude. “We really want to showcase the old way of doing things in the mountains.”
Of course, visitors will be able to taste plenty of beans and cornbread. Area restaurants, businesses and caterers will be preparing traditional and new beans and cornbread recipes for tasting while vying for top honors in the cook-off. Bush Beans will be featured in all the recipes. There will also be a corn hole tournament to benefit Sevier County Humane Society from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Teams can register on site and compete for a minimal $10 entry donation.
The Gatlinburg Beans and Cornbread Festival presented by Bush Brothers & Company is Thursday, May 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the Parkway between traffic light numbers 6 and 8. While the festival is free, visitors can purchase a spoon for $10 and sample all the different recipes while supplies last.
