Kajeet Announces New Program to Help Educators Manage Student Internet at Home
McLean, Virginia (PRWEB) May 06, 2015 -- Kajeet, the only wireless service provider dedicated solely to providing safe and affordable mobile connectivity for students, announces its latest Education Broadband™ program designed to help educators better manage their students’ home broadband connectivity. As districts migrate to using technology, with blended learning or 1-to-1 programs, school technologists are faced with putting all the pieces of the puzzle together to achieve student success. Now, districts and schools can fully leverage Kajeet’s expertise in designing and deploying safe solutions with its Kajeet Managed Education Broadband program.
“Busy educators are not an anomaly. District technology leaders say student access to the Internet outside of school is one of the most challenging issues they face today. Our job is to make their job easier,” said Kajeet CEO and Founder Daniel Neal. “The Kajeet Managed solution is a complete turn-key program where your technology team can focus on other important things. We provide the hardware, software and the network – all in a cloud-based platform – to give your students all the bandwidth they need for education sites, resources and for completing homework.”
With the Kajeet Managed program, school technology leaders need to determine only the following two things for Education Broadband:
1) The number of students needing Internet access at home.
2) The number of months for broadband service, typically a school year.
The Kajeet team handles everything else, including the filtering, time restrictions, data consumption, and analysis and reporting. Currently partnering with more than 55 districts in 22 states, Kajeet is keeping students connected on multiple 4G LTE wireless broadband networks to online textbooks, apps, emails, documents and websites, as well as to their teachers, to ensure that students have a level playing field for academic success and improved test scores.
Pontiac School District in Michigan is one of the many district partners connecting students through the new Kajeet Managed Education Broadband program. The suburban Detroit district is implementing blended learning in their classrooms, and in the upcoming year they will be launching a 1-to-1 initiative. The district needed to find an affordable solution to provide Internet to students without connectivity, as well as a simple way to manage it.
“We looked at McDonalds, Starbucks, even churches. There was some limited access, but with many students staying up until 11 at night to do homework, what would they do?” said Jeff Mozdzierz, Director of Technology for the Pontiac School District. “The biggest advantages we’ve seen with Kajeet are the filtering, making sure that we’re CIPA compliant and being able to manage bandwidth and overage charges. We wanted to make sure that they were using it appropriately - using it for education and not just streaming entertainment.”
To ensure safe connectivity outside of the classroom and not just at home, schools issue the Kajeet SmartSpot® solution, a MiFi brand mobile hotspot by Novatel Wireless, combined with the innovative Sentinel® cloud portal, providing customizable filtered Internet access to keep students focused on school work and provide educational connectivity. This keeps students on-task and controls costs. As part of the Kajeet solution, teachers and administrators receive reports with learning analytics to help improve student achievement.
