For one day only, guests will sample three wines by Charles Woodson, paired with a specially designed menu in the Napa Valley Train’s Champagne Vista Dome.

“It is going to be an incredible day. I will be creating a menu special for the occasion, to pair with his wines. This event will be a touchdown with a star athlete!” - Chef Kelly Macdonald

The Napa Valley Wine Train will be having a special event with Oakland Raider's 8-time Pro Bowler, Charles Woodson and his wine brand, Charles Woodson Wines. This will be a unique opportunity to meet Woodson, spend three hours in a private luxury railcar with him, and enjoy his wines with a one of a kind paired menu.

“We are very excited to have Charles Woodson and Charles Woodson Wines on board,” said Kelly Macdonald, Executive Chef for the Napa Valley Wine Train. “It is going to be an incredible day. I will be creating a menu special for the occasion, to pair with his wines. This event will be a touchdown with a star athlete!”

Woodson is one of just two players in NFL history to win a Heisman Trophy, Associated Press Rookie of the Year, Associated Press Player of the Year and a Super Bowl in their career. Charles is a three-time first-team All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowler.

Charles Woodson discovered his appreciation for wine in 1998 when he arrived in Napa with the Oakland Raiders for training camp. He was intrigued when he noticed that everywhere he went people were enjoying a bottle of wine. With the help of an acclaimed international winemaker, he makes boutique productions of hand-crafted Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. His 2010 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon was recently named to Wine Spectator’s prestigious Top 100 list, further catapulting the brand’s success. He now leases ten acres of vineyard just north of where the team trains.

The “A Day in the Dome with Charles Woodson” event will showcase Charles Woodson Wines’ 2014 Sauvignon Blanc, and the 2008 and 2010 vintages of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Chef Macdonald will be designing a menu special to pair with these three wines. The event will be held in the Napa Valley Wine Train’s Champagne Vista Dome, a 1952 Super Dome, one of the first ten full domes built by Pullman Standard. The Vista Dome offers exclusive luxury private dining upstairs and a state of the art kitchen downstairs.
