Texas Company Helps Schools Meet a TEA Mandatory Summer Instructional Program Requirement.
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) May 08, 2015 -- In an ongoing effort to ensure academic success for every student in Texas, school districts have been directed to provide summer programs that will prepare Limited English Proficient (LEP) students for the rigors of reading they will encounter in kindergarten and first grade. Schools are required to offer the program for one-half day for eight weeks while school is recessed for the summer or for a total of 120 hours of instruction.
“This is an important program since it will ensure that all Texas students start school on a ‘level playing field’”, said Mary Kay Davis, President of Texas Educational Solutions. “To help our school districts fulfill this requirement, we will provide any Texas school with a free reading program for the duration of their summer school". Texas Educational Solutions has been partnering with school districts to measurably improve student outcomes for 15 years.
The StudyDog reading program is a research-based, highly effective and web-based reading program that has been used by more than 3,000 schools and 6 million children. It is an adaptive and multi-dimensional reading program that engages emerging readers and enables them to search for clues to learn critical reading skills. When used during the summer with pre-kindergarten children, StudyDog can improve the “Not-ready-for-Kindergarten” statistic by 40%.
