Acer America today announced that its award-winning TravelMate P645-S Series commercial ultrabooks have been refreshed with powerful Intel 5th generation Intel® Core™ i5 and i7 “Broadwell” processors for even better performance(1) to support commercial customers.
Thanks to the new Intel processors, the new Acer TravelMate P645-S, which earned Red Dot and iF product design awards in 2014, provides more power than the prior generation, which translates to longer battery life, better visuals with up to 24 percent better graphics performance and up to 50 percent faster video conversion.(1) The TravelMate P645 now delivers up to 8 hours of battery life, enough for a transcontinental flight or a full day of meetings.

Strong and Lightweight Road Warrior
Light, yet very durable, the Acer TravelMate P645-S conforms to strict industry criteria. A high-strength carbon fiber lid contributes to the lightweight design, which weighs only 3.31 pounds and measures just 0.82 inches thin. Made from magnesium-aluminum, the palm rest and bottom cover withstand extreme pressure and protect the system from drops.(4) A fan keeps the ultrabook running at a comfortable temperature and Dust Defender technology clears dust from the cooling system. A full-sized Chiclet keyboard provides a 1.4mm travel distance for comfortable typing and a spill-resistant design protects it from accidents on planes, trains and in meetings. LED-backlit, the key can be seen in dimly-lit environments, such as red-eye flights.

The notebook comes with three USB 3.0 ports and an optional Acer ProDock offers a wide array of ports in an ergonomic design for quick connections and handy cable management. There are two Acer TravelMate P645-S models available to fulfill commercial customer requirements for budget and usage. The premium configuration boasts a 14-inch Full HD display leveraging IPS technology and discrete NVIDIA® GeForce® 840M graphics with 2GB DDR3 VRAM. The mainstream version boasts a HD 1366x768 resolution display and integrated Intel® HD Graphics 5500. Both models come with 8GB of DDR3 memory upgradable to 12GB and fast boot times and ample storage space with a solid state drive (SSD) offering up to 256GB(2) in capacity. The LED-backlit displays are outfitted with ComfyView™ anti-glare technology and deliver accurate color and consistent, crisp and clear images indoors and out. The systems also support two additional displays, so professionals can view up to three displays simultaneously for maximum productivity.
The line is optimized for conference calls with a high-def 720p webcam, dual microphones, a mute key, high-definition audio and Acer Purified.Voice, which enhances voice sound and reduces background noise and keystrokes. Optional Near Field Communication (NFC) supports paperless payments and tickets.
Comprehensive Security and Management Package
The Acer TravelMate P645 is outfitted with robust security software and hardware to protect a company’s data and assets, while premium manageability tools lower the total cost of ownership by allowing IT professionals to easily service and upgrade many of the system’s internal components.
Acer ProShield Manager is a suite of both security and management tools to safeguard valuable data and prevent unauthorized access. Leveraging pre-boot authentication, Acer ProShield Manager protects the ultrabook from the BIOS to the application level. Users can create a Personal Secure Drive (PSD) to seamlessly store and encrypt all critical files, ensuring that if the Acer TravelMate P645 is lost or stolen, the data cannot be accessed. It also offers an automated solution to manage IT assets remotely.
An integrated biometric fingerprint reader paired with a Trusted Platform Module 1.2 reader secures the system from unauthorized access. In addition, a Kensington lock enables the system to be secured to a desk.
