Flakka Induced Mother Abandons Baby, found by Florida Drug Treatment Center; New Video Released
Miami, FL (PRWEB) May 06, 2015 -- Qushanna Doby (20) was arrested for child neglect, after leaving her baby outside a nearby drug treatment center in Florida while under the influence of Flakka, according to CBS Miami on May 4th. New surveillance tapes released by CBS4’s Peter D’Oench records Doby distraught in a parking lot around 7am, without her baby. Doby’s child is around one year old. The drug treatment center in Florida who found the baby crying and shivering outside was not named. The residents polled by CBS Miami express concern about the fate of the child and mother alike. CBS Miami quotes Boynton resident Susan Modica, “Well it is sad, it is sad for both of them and sad for the child. She [the child] needs more care than that, and the mom needs help.” In response to the recent flakka epidemic and its rising influence on the denizens of South Florida, Harbor Village Detox, a drug and alcohol treatment center in Florida, is advising those suffering from the effects of the addictive substance, flakka, to enroll in addiction treatment immediately.
Harbor Village Detox is an inpatient medical detox center in Florida dedicated to providing its clients with the apex of drug and alcohol addiction treatment. Since the mini flakka epidemic in the South Florida area, the drug and alcohol addiction treatment facility has not received the influx of patients addicted to flakka as it would have hoped.
An associate comments, “When you hear the wild stories flakka has brought about, you hope right away if there are headlines about it, something is being done to quell the hysteria. Unfortunately in this case, there hasn’t been much headway in terms of getting enough people we believe to be exposed to, and using the drug, into addiction treatment. Although some parts of Florida have flakka task forces, it’s yet to be seen how effective they will be in admitting patients into rehab. If the main goal is incarceration, there won’t be any justice served for those struggling with an addiction they don’t realize needs treatment. Those who are hallucinating and who are experiencing delirium as a result of the addictive substance must seek treatment immediately.”
Harbor Village Detox serves primarily as an inpatient medical detox center in Florida, with connections to other residential rehabilitation centers, and sober living community programs. During drug and alcohol detox patients participate in cognitive behavioral therapy, and group therapy. The inpatient medical detox center believes in establishing a firm foundation on which patients will grow upon during the spectrum of addiction treatment in Florida.
