The Republic of Tea Announces 2015 Limited Edition First Flush Darjeeling Tea
NOVATO, Calif. (PRWEB) May 12, 2015 -- The Republic of Tea, leading purveyor of premium teas, today launched its highly anticipated 2015 Limited Edition First Flush Darjeeling Tea. Featuring premium Biodynamic tea leaves hand-selected from the famed first plucking of the season in the Darjeeling region of India, just 1,000 tins are available for Citizens to purchase. The tea tin also displays custom artwork from Norah Schoenfarber of Ormand Beach, Florida, the winner of The Republic of Tea’s 2015 First Flush Darjeeling tea tin design contest.
“This year’s Limited Edition First Flush Darjeeling Tea, the 13th in the series, celebrates the first harvest of the 2015 season, as well as the tin artwork put forth by one deserving Citizen (customer) of The Republic of Tea,” says Kristina Richens, Minister of Commerce for The Republic of Tea. “We’re honored to share this unique opportuniTEA with all of our Citizens as we work to procure this highly regarded special reserve blend. The Republic of Tea is also pleased that the 2015 selection is certified Biodynamic.”
For this special limited-time offering, The Republic of Tea seeks out the finest first tea leaves of spring or “First Flush” from the renowned Darjeeling region of India. The leaves are chosen from one of the famed tea gardens found at the base of the mighty Himalayan mountains near the Nepalese border. The Minister of Leaves samples a variety of first spring leaves from many different gardens of the region, carefully selecting what represents the perfect “First Flush” spring leaves of the year’s harvest. Very limited quantities are then expedited via air freight so that Citizens across the globe can enjoy the extremely fresh, special reserve tea for the season. The tea is celebrated each year as a Limited Edition blend, of which only a limited number are produced, and features custom artwork from a talented Citizen.
The Republic of Tea’s 2015 “First Flush” was plucked on March 27 from the Selimbong Tea Estate in the Darjeeling region of India, which was first planted in 1866. Selimbong, bordered by both the Balasun River and Sukhia Forest Reserve, has received the prestigious Tea Board of India Award for Quality. The garden has been certified organic since 1995, certified Biodynamic by Demeter International since 1998.
The artwork on this year’s tin, by Citizen and artist Norah Schoenfarber, is intended to capture the essence of this special tea. The design is a painting called “A Cup of Spring,” and is an original watercolor and pencil on watercolor paper, done exclusively for The Republic of Tea. According to Schoenfarber, “A Cup of Spring” represents the experience of drinking high-quality tea on a sunny day in a Darjeeling tea garden, or in one’s own garden, and the whimsy found in each cup.
The 2015 “First Flush” Darjeeling is now available on The Republic of Tea website. The full line of Republic of Tea offerings is available nationwide at natural and specialty food stores, cafes and through the company website (http://www.REPUBLICofTEA.com), mail-order catalogue and by calling, 800.298.4TEA (832).
