Leading Indoor Agriculture Conference to Discuss Agriculture Technology, Vertical Farming At Its First New York Event
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 11, 2015 -- The $9bn-potential indoor agriculture market is experiencing rapid growth as California’s drought, food supply chain challenges and the scarcity of new farmland encourage growers to augment production with more efficient and sustainable growing methods. Indoor Ag-Con – the indoor agriculture’s industry’s leading conference – will be hosting its first event in New York on October 15, 2015 at the Helen Mills Theater in Chelsea.
The exclusive one-day event will be limited to 120 participants, and is tailored toward corporate executives from the technology, investment, vertical and greenhouse farming, and food and beverage industries, along with hydroponic, aquaponic and aeroponic startups and urban farmers. The event will consist of 12 keynotes from industry leaders and extended discussion periods. Participants will have the opportunity to ask in-depth questions of industry leaders at lunch-time discussion tables. Confirmed speakers include the CEOs of AeroFarms, BrightFarms, FarmedHere, and KKR-backed Sundrop Farms as well as Caleb Harper, the founder of MIT’s CityFARM initiative.
As with each Indoor Ag-Con event, the day’s focus will be on networking: “We pride ourselves on the conversations that our events spark and expect the New York event to be no different,” said Nicola Kerslake, founder of Newbean Capital, the owner and organizer of Indoor Ag-Con. Agriculture technology companies, suppliers and automation companies will have the chance to meet and mingle with leading vertical farmers and commercial greenhouse operations.
The New York event is a supplement to the conference’s larger annual event, held each year in the spring in Las Vegas, NV. In its first three years, Indoor Ag-Con has captured an international audience and attracted some of the top names in the business. This year’s 340+ participants came from 8 countries, as far away as New Zealand and the Philippines. Vendors in its sold-out exhibition hall included LED lighting systems, nutrient delivery systems, and automated aeroponics technology. The 2015 event’s sponsors included retail majors such as Overstock.com and Whole Foods Market, as well as industry leaders such as BioSafe Systems, CropKing, Dosatron, Illumitex and Hort Americas.
Newbean Capital, the host of the conference, is a registered investment advisor; some of its clients or potential clients may participate in the conference. In arranging the New York event, Newbean Capital is ably assisted by professional event planner, Sarah Kermensky, who was formerly with Hudson, NY-based industry magazine, Modern Farmer.
