Pennsylvania Drug Deaths Steadily Increase to Seven Deaths Per Day
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) May 14, 2015 -- On May 8th, 2015 the Philly Voice reported seven people die every day from drug spurred deaths in Pennsylvania. The statistic comes from a report released by the State Corners Association, who revealed 2,489 deaths in 2014 were a direct result of drug poisoning. Drug related deaths are anticipated to keep on the rise, as last year showed a 20 percent increase over a variety of the state’s counties. The overdose health crisis is made smaller by statistics, says Gary Tennis. The Philly Voice quotes Tennis, “The details provided in the report are invaluable; they will help federal, state, and local officials better target our emergency care, prevention, intervention, and treatment services, as well as help law enforcement most effectively focus its efforts to protect our citizens.” Drug Rehab Philadelphia is an addiction treatment center in Philadelphia, but serves the entire state of Pennsylvania. The drug treatment center asserts encouraging people with untreated drug and alcohol addictions are more likely to successfully shed their dependence to addictive substances--thereby reducing the number of drug related deaths.
According to the Philly Voice, 32 percent of drug deaths were heroin related. In 25 percent of deaths, opiates were recorded. The remaining drug culprits include: antihistamines, antidepressants, benzodiazepines, muscle relaxers, and antipsychotics.
Drug Rehab Philadelphia asserts providing unrestricted access to heroin rehab in Pennsylvania will be the key to redressing the rampant opiate epidemic. An associate from the addiction and recovery center in Philadelphia comments, “If we want to curtail the rate of drug related deaths we need to figure out better ways to get into treatment. Introducing the idea of addiction treatment has to come before people look for help themselves, because people with substance use disorders can remain untreated for years until they even think about getting help. The problem revolving around addiction, and a major factor attributing to the number of preventable deaths is the societal stigma revolving addiction. We need to stop treating addiction as a taboo, and start regarding it has the treatable disease it is--that alone will promote understanding and treatment earlier on. Most users feel a great measure of guilt while using, but don’t feel like there are any options for them to turn to- so to stifle that pain they just keep using.”
Drug Rehab Philadelphia provides its patients with the full gamut of drug counseling, in addition to addiction and recovery programs in Philadelphia. The addiction treatment center treats clients for the illnesses of withdrawal before they take hold. Their 24 hour regulated facility gives patients the tools they need to overcome the throes of addiction, while teaching them the inner mechanisms of addiction and how to prevent relapse during and after treatment. The facility provides a family orientated environment and allows patients to discover the underlying causes of addiction by working closely with addiction counselors.
