New ENER-G E-200 biogas CHP unit will increase ROI on small scale anaerobic digestion

ENER-G has reached the finals of the 10th British Renewable Energy Awards, in recognition of its success as an innovator in combined heat and power.

ENER-G has reached the finals of the 10th British Renewable Energy Awards, in recognition of its success as an innovator in combined heat and power (CHP).

The awards are hosted by the Renewable Energy Association, which has shortlisted ENER-G for the Innovation Award.

The nomination recognises ENER-G's contribution to the small scale anaerobic digestion market through developing a high efficiency biogas CHP system that maximises return on investment.

ENER-G's newly launched E200 biogas CHP unit was created by the company's UK R&D, engineering and manufacturing teams and enables customers to benefit from both the highest rate Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and Feed in Tariff (FIT).

The sub 200kwth CHP system provides a total efficiency rating of 77.1%. Its thermal output of 195kWth qualifies for the highest rate RHI of 7.5p per kWth. It also achieves a high electrical output of 205kWe, qualifying for FIT payments at the highest current rate of 10.13p per kWh.

The new technology will help customers stem the shortfall of ongoing FIT digression and makes small scale anaerobic digestion viable for more smaller farms, dairies and process industries, such as the food and drink sector.

Martin Wager, Business Development Manager for ENER-G Combined Power Ltd, said: "We are honoured to be shortlisted for a British Renewable Energy Award, which is one of the most prestigious award schemes in the UK renewables industry. By locating our R&D, engineering and manufacturing teams alongside each other at our global headquarters in Greater Manchester, we are able to innovate new products and rapidly bring them to market in response to customer needs."

The Awards winners will be announced at a ceremony at London's Savoy Hotel on 18 June 2015.
