Redevelopment Plans for Sergeant Jasper Scheduled for Board of Architectural Review May 13th
Charleston, SC (PRWEB) May 12, 2015 -- The redevelopment plans for the Sergeant Jasper are scheduled for Conceptual Review with the Charleston Board of Architectural Review Wednesday, May 13th.
Located at 310 Broad Street, the new plan is for a mixed-use development including residential units, office space and retail space, and will be renamed, The Jasper.
The new plans propose a mixed-use development including
- 80 luxury residential units
- Approximately 118,000 square feet of premium “Class A” office space
- 36,000 square feet of neighborhood retail
- 592 parking spaces
“The vision for The Jasper is to transform a 65-year-old property into a beautifully landscaped site with abundant green space and an exceptionally well-designed building,” said Beach Company CEO John Darby.
The park-like setting includes Charleston garden walkways accessible to the public from Moultrie Playground and Colonial Lake to the Ashley River, and from Canal Street to Broad Street, to improve the neighborhood pedestrian experience on the west side of the peninsula. The Jasper will be surrounded by significant green space and will be set back far from Broad Street.
The architectural design of The Jasper is influenced by the finest buildings in Historic Charleston. The Peoples Building, Fort Sumter House, and the Francis Marion Hotel provide both design and materials inspiration. Antunovich Associates architects joins LS3P Associates and DesignWorks on the design team to create the new plan for The Jasper. Antunovich Associates, of Chicago and Washington, DC are highly regarded for their historic preservation and adaptive re-use experience.
To learn more about The Jasper redevelopment, citizens are encouraged to attend the BAR meeting on Wednesday, May 13 at 4:30 pm. It will be held at Burke High School, 244 President St. in Charleston.
