Aligning development and recruitment with the merchants ominchannel strategy
(PRWEB UK) 14 May 2015
Given the maturity of commerce platforms and the increased knowledge and expertise within merchants, there is a shift in the delivery adoption models of these organizations. Many are moving away from the system integrator having all the knowledge and therefore owning the entire delivery and on-going support of a platform to a more combined and cohesive development engagement, one that works in partnership between the merchant and system integrator.
“Nearly every enterprise project today has a combination of System Integrator (SI), contract staff and internal resources, yet the combination of this talent pool can typically be unaligned and not joined up in understanding the long term goal that supports the client’s best interests,” says Kevin Ludford, CEO, InventCommerce
“Often clients will start with System Integrator or build it themselves, only to switch to contract staff or a different partner or visa versa. Equally, management changes can decide upon a different development strategy, which can also impact the delivery model.
“We launched the Converge Programme for hybris to help merchants ensure they have a joined up strategy for long term delivery. It removes having a silo approach to contractors, SI and internal recruitment but ensures resourcing and hiring is part of the overall delivery strategy and all parties are aligned with the clients vision and objectives. Acting as one party, it means the advice and guidance can be aligned for the client, therefore reducing decision risk, driving a higher quality of resource expertise and equally ensures knowledge is retained and that the correct development and reporting tools are in place to support this delivery and hiring model. If the client wishes to take over development aspects, it’s important to ensure hiring of quality personnel is managed as part of that process, that’s why we need to think holistically and not just as an Integrator. We’ve worked in partnership with C4Commerce now for 3 years and as a recruiter and hybris extend partner, they really bring the additional value through early screening and profiling, so collectively we bring both skill sets together to deliver a joined up programme for our clients.”
Chris Baldry-Chourio, C4 Commerce, comments: “Working within the delivery programme ensures that roles can be defined and hiring is planned out that supports the client’s preferred delivery model. Often we experience clients wishing to recruit individuals that have worked for the SI on their project as they retain project knowledge. So why not plan this from the start and hire accordingly so that project team members can work under the umbrella of the SI and ensure strong governance and platform expertise can be shared but in the full knowledge that they transition into the client's down stream.”
The Converge Programme for hybris is designed to support any merchant that is looking to streamline and reduce the risk of their delivery capabilities to ensure they deliver their business objectives. It brings together hybris technical development and delivery expertise, combined with governance, training and recruitment that dovetail into their omnichannel strategy.
