Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) May 14, 2015
FinCon, the premier industry event for the money media community, today publicly announced the details for The 2015 FinCon FinTech Startup Competition, the first early stage business competition dedicated to technology products and solutions in the consumer facing personal finance and investing verticals. The event will take place, live, at FinCon15 on September 18th at The Westin Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The competition exposes early-stage businesses to the consumer-facing financial media world (sites like Yahoo! Finance, Wise Bread, MONEY.com, MoneyCrashers.com, Daily Finance, InvestorJunkie.com, etc.), and will provide FinCon attendees (financial media members) with new and exciting material for articles, podcasts, and video content. FinCon is an annual event that caters to personal finance and investing bloggers and journalist, podcasters, authors, Youtubers, and financial professionals. Sponsored by Chase, the startup competition is new to FinCon this year.
“I'm excited about this new partnership with Chase that has the potential to really transform the reach of our event and multiply the efforts of ten innovative FinTech entrepreneurs,” said FinCon founder Phillip Taylor. “The FinCon Expo Innovation Center and associated FinTech Competition help to make our event the only place where content creators in personal finance and investing can come to learn about cutting edge ideas aimed at helping consumers. At the same time, the FinCon community is uniquely positioned to expose the best of these ideas to the millions of consumers who engage with their content on a regular basis."
Chase has stated that it is proud to partner with FinCon to encourage innovation among financial technology pioneers.
Ten startups will be accepted into the competition for a $6,000 first place prize and title of “Best in Show” for FinCon 2015. Each startup will get three minutes in front of a live audience to present their business on the FinCon Innovation Center Stage. Startups will be adjudicated based on clearly articulated value proposition, market opportunity, and desired social impact. A panel of judges will award the top two competitors, and the audience will vote on a “people’s choice."
This competition is open to all #FinCon15 exhibitors that are consumer-facing personal finance and investing technology companies that have received only seed (or limited angel) funding and have fewer than three years in service. Two startups have already been accepted into the competition, Draft, a crowdsourced data application for novice investors, and Wherewithal, an investing platform that uses cash back rewards on popular items. The competition is still seeking eight additional competitors. Visit http://finconexpo.com/fintech-startup-competition/ for more information and to enter.
