The Bear is a traditional symbol in many Native American cultures representing strength, wisdom, and a necessary mix of kindness and fierce loyalty.

The online leader in Native American jewelry, SilverTribe.com, has populated their website with potential Father’s Day gifts that encompass the role a father figure has often held: that of the family protector.

It has been a long-held belief in many Native American cultures that fathers, and father figures, are the ones who ensure the continued protection, order, and stability of a family. SilverTribe.com has brought in new jewelry for men that include the symbolism associated with Father’s Day, including rings, cuffs, and more.

Chris Anderson, SilverTribe spokesperson, explains a few of the symbols that honor fathers. “The Bear is a traditional symbol in many Native American cultures representing strength, wisdom, and a necessary mix of kindness and fierce loyalty. Many of our new pieces have the bear portrayed within it, carved from silver or another stone.”

Anderson goes on to note that along with the Bear, the Eagle is another way to honor a father’s role. “The Eagle is a totem of watchfulness and power. Both the Bear and the Eagle are two very powerful totems that are honored because they utilize their strengths to help others. These two symbols are a wonderful way to show appreciation for the father figure in your life.”

In addition, Anderson says that much of the new jewelry is made to include the onyx stone, which is believed to bring protection in many Native American cultures. “The onyx stone creates a staggering, powerful look when set against sterling silver, so many of our newest pieces feature that contrast. Green turquoise, too, is believed to be a protection gem and many of our pieces have the stone set in silver.”

Overall, Anderson says that the goal is to honor a father’s role with cultural symbolism that is both good-looking and carries a message. “It’s a thoughtful gift, to give something that says, ‘thank you for being a protector in my life’.”
