Allied Van Lines Establishes Logistics-Based Scholarship for College Students
CHICAGO, IL (PRWEB) May 19, 2015 -- Allied Van Lines is excited to introduce a 2015 scholarship program aimed at students whose area of study focuses on logistics and moving-related fields. Founded in 1928, Allied Van Lines was originally created as a cooperative non-profit organization, growing over the years into one of the world’s largest moving companies.
“There’s an increasing demand for people with a logistics or moving background so it’s only fitting that we at Allied institute a scholarship program to reward the brightest in our field,” said Lesli Bertoli, vice president and general manager, Allied Van Lines. “Allied is deeply rooted in charitable organizations and is excited to extend our reach into the academic arena to invest in the future and well being of our industry.”
As part of the 2015 scholarship program, five students will be chosen as the recipient of an award scholarship totaling $1,000 each. Interested and qualifying students must write a short essay describing why they feel a career in logistics or supply chain management serves as their career path of choice. Individual award amounts will be made out to the chosen student’s college or university. Essay submission deadline is September 1, 2015. Winners of the competition will be officially notified via email and announced on the Allied Van Lines Logistics Scholarship page.
“We would like entries to focus on being as personal as possible, offering up a student’s thoughtful perspective on why they believe in logistics as a career path,” said Lesli Bertoli, vice president and general manager, Allied Van Lines. “We will select the winners from the students who best exemplify a sincere passion for cultivating both their own future and the future of the industry as a whole.”
