Top Marine Leaders from the 2014 Ground Combat Community Recognized at 12th Annual Marine Corps Association & Foundation Ground Awards Dinner
Arlington, Virginia (PRWEB) May 16, 2015 -- The Marine Corps Association & Foundation held the 12th Annual MCA&F Ground Awards Dinner in coordination with Lieutenant General Ronald Bailey, Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies, and Operations. The dinner was held at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia and provided the opportunity to recognize top performing leaders in the Marine ground combat community in 2014.
The evening’s guest speaker, General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., Commandant of the Marine Corps, spoke about Marine leadership and resourcefulness in the challenging operational environment of today. Following his remarks, General Dunford helped present the evening’s awards which included the following:
- The 2014 1st Marine Division Marine of the Year Award, sponsored by General Dynamics Land Systems and the Marine Corps Association & Foundation was presented to Corporal Travis M. Loesch
- The 2014 2d Marine Division Marine of the Year Award sponsored by Professional Solutions and the Marine Corps Association & Foundation was presented to Staff Sergeant Jacob Bublitz
- The 2014 3d Marine Division Marine of the Year Award, sponsored by Exelis and the Marine Corps Association & Foundation was presented to Sergeant Shawn M. DeMarcy
- The 2014 4th Marine Division Marine of the Year Award, sponsored by BAE Systems and the Marine Corps Association & Foundation was presented to Staff Sergeant Terence Renkl
- The 2014 Chambers Award for Outstanding Leadership by a Company Grade Officer in the Marine Reserve Component, sponsored by Marine RSTARS Impact Fund and the Marine Corps Association & Foundation was presented to Major James F. Colvin
- The 2014 MARSOC Noncommissioned Officer / Critical Skills Operator of the Year Award, sponsored by FLIR and the Marine Corps Association & Foundation was presented posthumously to Master Sergeant Aaron C. Torian who died from injuries sustained while conducting operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
- The 2014 Douglas A. Zembiec Award for Outstanding Leadership in Special Operations, sponsored by Lockheed Martin and the Marine Corps Association & Foundation was presented to Captain Damon Doykos
- The 2014 Gunner Henry Lewis Hulbert Award for Outstanding Leadership by a Marine Gunner, sponsored by Nammo and the Marine Corps Association & Foundation was presented to Chief Warrant Officer 2 Richard W. Choquette III
- The 2014 Lieutenant Colonel William G. Leftwich Trophy for Outstanding Leadership was presented to Major Daniel E. Grainger
