Greenberg Traurig Attorneys Speak at 37th Annual Corporate Counsel Institute
HOUSTON (PRWEB) May 14, 2015 -- Jordan Cowman, L. Bradley Hancock, and Kent Newsome, shareholders at the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, spoke at the 37th Annual Corporate Counsel Institute. The annual conference, held April 16-17 in Houston and May 7-8 in Dallas, is presented by the Corporate Counsel Section of the State Bar of Texas and The University of Texas School of Law. According to its website, the conference series offers in-depth, practical discussions on legal issues for in-house counsel and outside counsel who represent companies of all sizes.
Hancock served as chair of the Institute’s planning committee and presided over the conference in Houston for the second time. Cowman moderated the panel discussion entitled, “The Top Five Cross-Border Legal Issues for In-House Counsel,” which focused on cutting-edge principles and techniques for managing risk across various countries and time zones. Newsome presented on the topic, “Issues in Office Leasing,” and provided insight on key issues when analyzing and negotiating office leases.
Cowman, a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Dallas office, focuses his practice on transnational projects and transactions, international agreements, public international law and policy, human capital, and corporate compliance, including anti-corruption and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He has a broad range of international experience representing and advising governments and international agencies on policy issues, as well as multinationals in various industries.
Hancock, a shareholder in the firm’s Houston office, served as vice-chair of the Corporate Counsel Section of the State Bar of Texas from 2013-2014. He concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation, both jury and non-jury, and dispute resolution. Hancock regularly handles a wide variety of matters, including commercial disputes, class actions, privacy and data security issues, products and intellectual property disputes, energy matters, and significant employment and labor law actions.
Newsome, a shareholder in the firm’s Houston office, is chair of the firm's Texas Real Estate Practice. He has more than 25 years of experience that includes commercial real estate, real estate development, health care acquisitions and development, and financing transactions. Newsome regularly represents owners and developers of commercial, retail, and industrial properties in the acquisition, financing, development, leasing, management and sale of office buildings, shopping centers, health care, and manufacturing facilities.
