The Lions Club’s float will proudly display the Lions theme for this year, "Strengthen the Pride". Riding Proudly on the Float will be Lion Veterans, identified by their red, white and blue sashes, and they will be joined by the current Miss America.

Lion of DC, DE, MD & VA March to Honor Veterans

The goal of Lions Clubs International is to reach out to veterans and offer them the opportunity to become part of the organization and give back to their communities.

LIONS Clubs from Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and the District of Columbia will march down Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC on May 25th at this year’s National Memorial Day Parade. Local Lion’s Club Banners will denote the name of the club, which will also denote the community which they serve.

While marching in the parade, LIONS will attempt to collect used eyeglasses to recycle and distribute to those in need all over the world. There will also be a van located near 7th & Constitution Avenue, N.W. to collect eyeglasses, you can also donate them to your local Lions clubs, or look for their collection boxes at many locations.

The goal of Lions Clubs International is to reach out to veterans and offer them the opportunity to become part of the organization and give back to their communities. “Additionally Lions will be paying special tribute to and honoring all Veterans and particularly those heroes who made the supreme sacrifice by giving their lives for their country.”

Many of the Lions in the parade are veterans who have served their country honorably and are today still committed to serving their communities through volunteerism, service and education especially for sight and hearing issues. Lion veterans can be identified by the Red, White and Blue Patriotic Sashes they will be wearing.

The Lions Club’s float will proudly display the Lions theme for this year, "Strengthen the Pride". On the float will be Lion Leaders and distinguished veteran Lions who continue to serve their communities in many ways. The Guest Celebrity on the Float this year is scheduled to be the current “Miss America”.

Please show your support for the Lion veterans by cheering them on at this year’s National Memorial Day parade and don’t forget to recycle your used eyeglasses!
