FinTech Sandbox, a nonprofit offering FinTech startups around the world free access to data, infrastructure, and community, announced today that AlphaPack has been admitted to the program. AlphaPack is the sixth and youngest FinTech startup accepted, joining Volos, Prophis Technologies, Kensho, Elsen, and Quantopian.
FinTech Sandbox was founded by entrepreneurs and investors who understand that the high cost of data and its inaccessibility to early-stage companies is holding back innovation. So, FinTech Sandbox brought together some of the world’s leading data and infrastructure providers to solve these problems.
AlphaPack co-founders Ravi Balasubramanian and Skye Isard were colleagues at Harvard Management Company. They started AlphaPack so friends and family could apply professional-grade analysis to investment allocation decisions. They’ve since realized that many other investors are looking for data-driven portfolio construction beyond the capabilities of first-wave robo advisors.
AlphaPack will help self-directed investors do the following:
● Make intelligent allocation decisions that reflect their beliefs and concerns,
● View and easily modify risk across holdings, e.g., geographic diversification, sector type, historic price behavior including standard deviations, correlations with major indices, and fundamental metrics like such as weighted price/earnings,
● Implement portfolio rebalances on an ongoing basis, and
● Collaborate with the advisors they already trust.
According to AlphaPack CEO Ravi Balasubramanian, “FinTech Sandbox allows us to aggregate account data for our beta testers so they can see the full, personalized benefits of the platform. This is important because – unlike other robo advisors – we take existing portfolio holdings into account and allow meaningful customization of investment recommendations.”
According to Jean Donnelly, Executive Director of FinTech Sandbox, “In addition to data and cloud-hosting services, AlphaPack is taking full advantage of technical and legal advisors and mentors they are meeting through FinTech Sandbox.”
Ravi continues: “Saying we are in the Sandbox gives us instant credibility.”
Based in Boston, AlphaPack is a next-generation automated investment advisor – a highly customizable portfolio construction and management platform for self-directed retail investors. Request an invitation to the AlphaPack beta at http://www.alphapack.co.
