Lifesaver's Banquet Will Honor Quick-acting Heroes - SureFire CPR to Host Event Promoting CPR Awareness
Orange, CA (PRWEB) May 20, 2015 -- Southern California CPR and First Aid instruction specialists SureFire CPR will host an event in tribute to some local heroes who recently saved peoples' lives thanks to quick action and certified CPR training. The lunch banquet will take place at Surefire CPR's City of Orange Headquarters on May 31st, and will include an awards ceremony honoring four heroes, who will be in attendance along with the children and adults they rescued.
Two of the heroes being recognized are area mothers who on separate occasions were able to save their own children from choking thanks to a thorough working knowledge of first aid procedures. Two other rescuers receiving tribute were able to jointly save a restaurant patron who went into cardiac arrest. SureFire CPR will also be recognizing the restaurant ownership, who enlisted the lifesaving CPR training for their staff only six months prior to the cardiac emergency in question.
The goal of the event is to promote CPR awareness – specifically to highlight how CPR and first aid training actually saves peoples' lives every day, and that the more people who learn the correct actions to take during an emergency, the more lives may be saved. The honorees of this event are ordinary citizens, with no prior medical training or expertise. And yet the people they rescued are alive today thanks to small number of easily attainable methods taught during standard CPR and first aid certification courses.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) dates to 1740, yet an estimated 70 percent of Americans do not know what to do when confronted with cardiac arrest. Of the nearly 400,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests that occur annually within the US, the American Heart Association estimates the survival rate triples when CPR is performed immediately, yet only a third of all victims currently receive this life saving treatment.
SureFire CPR http://www.surefirecpr.com/ invites members of the media to join them in honoring these heroes, and helping to spread their stories so more may be emboldened to learn these life-saving techniques. SureFire CPR's Headquarters is located at 1835 W. Orangewood Ave. #105, Orange, CA 92868. The banquet will take place from 12pm - 2pm.
