Seattle, WA (PRWEB) May 26, 2015
May 26th, 2015 (Seattle, WA) – Aegis Living CEO Dwayne Clark recently announced his True Productions Company will award a $50,000 grant to a local film maker through the internationally-acclaimed Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF). This inaugural grant will start a three-year commitment. Each year, the grant will feature a broad theme on which the documentary’s story will revolve. This year’s theme: aging and dementia.
SIFF will reach out to film communities and organizations to garner applications. Only one application per project will be accepted. SIFF will present the winning film at the Seattle International Film Festival. Application details will be posted June 15th 2015 at http://www.siff.net
Dwayne Clark says, “Part of our mission with True Productions is to empower talented local filmmakers to bring their true stories to play out on the big screen. We’re excited about launching this grant with an important theme this year near and dear to anyone who has a loved one affected by dementia or aging issues. Great things will come of this opportunity—given Seattle’s talented pool of filmmakers.”
Clark is Founder & CEO of Aegis Living, operating 30 assisted-living communities in the Western U.S. Many residents live with dementia or Alzheimer’s, the sixth-leading cause of death in America today. He founded the company after his mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Aegis Living is based upon a feeling that the industry could use a lot more care, innovation and expertise. Clark is also an accomplished playwright. His play “Seven Ways to Get There” recently finished a world-premiere run at Seattle’s ACT Theatre.
”Independent film is what keeps the world of cinema fresh and dynamic, challenging the status quo and presenting new viewpoints for filmgoers to experience. What an incredible resource this will be for filmmakers to tell their stories," says Carl Spence, SIFF's Artistic Director. Adds Mary Bacarella, SIFF's Managing Director, "This grant presents us with an opportunity to continue our mission to support that important work - it's even better that we have such advocates as Dwayne and Terese Clark of True Productions to convey this message. We are thrilled to be working with True Productions to support the extraordinary voices working in our film community."
