Eugene, OR (PRWEB) May 18, 2015
The Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) announced its decision today to appoint Sabrina Parsons, CEO of Palo Alto Software, to its board of directors.
The Oregon Community Foundation works with organizations, businesses, families and individuals throughout Oregon to create charitable funds for a variety of causes that support communities across the state. Parsons was chosen to join the board because of her connection to the Eugene, Ore. community; her proven leadership skills; and her experience helping to further education, technology and economic development in Eugene.
“Parsons is the perfect addition to our board. She’s the leader of a very successful and fast-growing software company, and is a prominent figure in Eugene,” said Max Williams, president and CEO of OCF. “At OCF, we think it’s incredibly important to give back to our communities and Sabrina really exemplifies this. She is known for spending her free time mentoring local entrepreneurs, teaching classes or volunteering her time at nonprofit organizations.”
Parsons, who will represent the Southern Willamette Valley region, has been the CEO of Eugene-based Palo Alto Software since 2007. A long-standing member of the Oregon business community, Parsons supports education and economic growth in Oregon by sponsoring all of the angel conferences throughout the state and committing time and energy to serving on boards like Oregon’s Regional Accelerator and Innovation Network (RAIN), serving on the Eugene 4J Budget Committee, and as part of the Stand For Children Strategy Team for Lane County.
“I have a passion for helping Oregon and am excited to roll up my sleeves and help The Oregon Community Foundation truly impact the lives of as many Oregonians as possible,” said Parsons. “I am looking forward to helping OCF continue their strategic investments in Oregon, leading other foundations to invest in Oregon where it is most needed, and where the money can have the greatest impact. The grants that OCF has given over the past 41 years have truly changed Oregon: from how we educate kids, to supporting the arts, to funding health care, to strategic investments in communities.”
Parsons will join four other new board members from across the state. OCF allocates more than $70 million in grants and scholarships throughout the state of Oregon each year, and relies heavily on connections and leadership from the board of directors to make this happen.
