CareMed Urgent & Primary Care Supports National Lyme Disease Awareness Month
Fairfax, VA (PRWEB) May 18, 2015 -- Representatives with CareMed Urgent & Primary Care (https://caremedurgentcare.com), announced today that the company is in full support of National Lyme Disease Awareness Month.
Supported by the Lyme Disease Foundation, Lyme Disease Awareness Month is a campaign that promotes preventative measures, which can be taken against the disease.
“We’re offering our full support of this campaign,” said Dr. Vipul Mangal, M.D., co-owner and spokesman for CareMed Urgent & Primary Care. “The campaign is used as a vehicle to educate about the risks of being bitten, how to avoid it, symptoms of Lyme disease, and where to go for help. CareMed Urgent & Primary Care's Clinic in Fairfax, VA provides help to patients.”
CareMed Urgent & Primary Care’s team of trained professionals is equipped to recognize the signs and symptoms of Lyme disease, according to Dr. Mangal. Lyme disease, Mangal continued, is an inflammatory disease caused by the bite of a deer tick or black-legged tick infected with the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi. After being bitten by an infected tick, a person may notice a rash around the bite. In addition, they may begin to experience flu-like symptoms, including fatigue and joint and muscle pain. Left untreated, Lyme disease may cause a person to experience mental health issues and chronic encephalomyelitis (inflammation of the brain and spinal cord).
