Space cat cafe franchise Catmosphere Café adds cinema for cult movie fans

Catmosphere Cat Cinema

We wanted to re-watch campy sci-fi and horror movies on a proper screen. We like having food during a movie, and we love the company of cats. Our cat cinema combines all of that.

With an imminent launch in Australia and several other locations in the pipeline, Catmosphere Café might already be the fastest expanding space cat cafe franchise in history. Targeted at cat lovers and movie nerds, its design is inspired by science ficton classics, with space cat paintings, Star Wars toys and crackpot cat movie posters featured in its branch locations.

To further cater to fans of vintage sci-fi, Catmosphere's Chiang Mai branch has now expanded to include a cat cinema - the world’s first of its kind.

Cat cinema guests may enjoy cult classics sitting on sofas and pillows and seating must at times be shared with cats - something to be expected in a cat cinema. “We created this place for ourselves”, says Bernhard, co-owner of the Chiang Mai branch. “We wanted to re-watch campy sci-fi and horror movies on a proper screen. We like having food during a movie, and we love the company of cats. Our cat cinema combines all of that.”

Open since April 2015, Catmosphere Cat Cinema Chiang Mai is frequented by both tourists and locals. Seats can be booked online for a flat fee of THB 200 (USD 6), popcorn and soft drinks included.
