On Friday, May 1, e-Commerce payment authorization services company Payverifi announced it will now offer fraud detection services to online merchants accepting card not present transactions.

Chase Harmer, President, says Payverifi's fraud detection services will be specifically geared to mail order telephone order (MOTO) confirmation and verification. Over the last few years, MOTO card transactions have been on the rise, but there are still very few fraud detection services available for the MOTO industry.

"There are a lot of products out there in the e-Commerce world, but not in the MOTO world," Harmer says. "We help merchants protect their accounts by eliminating fraud from happening, and we also increase their bottom line because they're not losing their sales."

As an e-Commerce or virtual terminal merchant in a card not present environment, Payverifi's clients can handle thousands of transactions every month. In this type of climate, chargebacks -- or the return of funds to the consumer -- are inevitable, whether they're a result of fraud, buyer's remorse or a number of other factors.

With Payverifi's new transaction validation services for card not present merchants, however, clients will be able to eliminate a significant portion of chargebacks, Harmer explains.

"As the first true validation and purchase verification product for the moto market, Payverifi can help clients manage sales and significantly decrease chargebacks from occurring," he says. "Many merchants record their calls, but that service can’t prove that it’s a specific person, unlike our product, which can tie down the consumer to the specific transactions and give key indicators when fraud may be present. We give our clients the green or red light to make the executive decision to accept, reject or pass through orders."

Ultimately, Payverifi's new services help clients reduce their liability, save money, improve customer satisfaction and save time. And already, Harmer says the fraud detection services have seen a positive response from clients.

"We've essentially created a product for a specific industry segment that really needed it," Harmer says. "We've already had amazing results, to the point where we've cut the chargebacks in half. We have very high expectations as we continue to develop the product and make it better and we anticipate on signing thousands of more clients in the future."
