Bethel School District Extends Relationship with Shaw Sports Turf
Spanaway, Washington (PRWEB) May 19, 2015 -- The Art Crate Stadium in the Bethel School District is about to replace their well-kept 11 year old turf field with a new Shaw Sports Turf field.
In 2004 the Bethel School District installed a Shaw Sports Turf field for the schools and other groups in the community. The county and state funded the first field in 2004, but the district has set aside money each year since 2004 in order to purchase the replacement field when needed.
The school district covers approximately 215 square miles and has 18,000 students. Many of those 18,000 students use the field for football, soccer, and lacrosse. The field’s greatest usage, however, has some from outside groups in the community.
“They have really done an outstanding job taking care of the field,” said Kevin Senf, Shaw Sports Turf Territory Manager. “While synthetic turf can greatly reduce maintenance, it cannot eliminate it. The Bethel School District is a great example of how doing the proper maintenance can extend the fields life cycle.”
The district has been consistent with grooming the field once per month, which provided longevity and reliability for the field that the community relies on. “The field could have lasted a few more years, but we decided to go ahead and re-do the entire stadium,” said Jim Hansen, the Bethel School District Director of Construction and Planning.
The stadium is undergoing a track replacement in addition of new LED lighting around the field to save energy.
“The synthetic turf has really served its desired purpose,” said Hansen. “We selected Shaw Sports Turf as the replacement turf provider because of the proven quality of products, passionate and helpful sales teams, and strong reputation provided.”
The field will feature Shaw Sports Turf’s Momentum system. Fast, dense and firm, Momentum is a high-performance synthetic turf system designed with Strenexe fiber, a proven slit film technology. In addition to its durability and performance benefits, Momentum’s fiber construction results in an umbrella effect that helps hold infill and reduce overall fly-out.
The new 83,307 square foot Shaw Sports Turf field will begin installation in June and be completed in August. The first high school football game will be played on the new field in September.
