MN SNAP Appoints New Executive Director
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) May 19, 2015 -- Anna Kucera has been named executive director of Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program (MN SNAP), a nonprofit organization that helps end the suffering and death of companion animals in Minnesota due to pet overpopulation by providing high-quality, affordable and accessible spay and neuter services to those in need.
Kucera joins the organization from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Upper Midwest Chapter, where she served as marketing and public relations director.
“We are delighted to have Anna on our team,” said Richard C. Gage, chairman of the board, MN SNAP. “Her strong nonprofit background, track record in fundraising and passion for the human-animal bond are a good fit for MN SNAP as we embark on an aggressive fundraising and brand identity campaign.”
Kucera, who holds degrees in English and biology from the University of Minnesota, will be responsible for the overall leadership of MN SNAP. In her new role, Kucera will chart the course for MN SNAP’s future, which includes developing a long-range strategic plan, raising dollars and awareness, and advancing the mission of the organization.
“What MN SNAP has achieved toward improving animal welfare in the past five years is nothing short of extraordinary. I am honored to join this talented group of people,” said Kucera.
Kucera currently serves as board chair of Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa, where she has provided leadership since 2010. Her past experience includes work with Special Olympics Minnesota, Utne Reader and the Northern Lighthouse Board of Scotland.
About MN SNAP
MN SNAP works in partnership with its affiliate organization, Blue Sky Veterinary Services, to perform surgeries in an outfitted RV and through leased space within Minneapolis Animal Care and Control. Since its founding five years ago, MN SNAP has provided subsidized spay and neuter services for more than 62,000 animals, preventing more than 150,000 first-generation births. Services are offered for owned animals within underserved and low-income communities, animals within the rescue and shelter system, and feral cat communities. MN SNAP recently acquired a facility in North Minneapolis that will soon become its permanent home in the Twin Cities.
