Marching Musicians Getting In Step With Hearing Protection
Elk Grove Village, IL (PRWEB) May 26, 2015 -- Marching bands across the country are getting ready for the summer season, and thanks to the efforts of Etymotic Research, an innovator in hearing wellness solutions, more of their musicians are protecting their hearing with Etymotic’s ETY•Plugs® high-fidelity earplugs.
With over 400 participating groups, Etymotic’s Adopt-a-Band program continues to add member ensembles. Vic Firth Earplugs by Etymotic are now for sale in drum shops and musical instrument stores. And, Etymotic’s sponsorship of Drum Corps International’s Drumline Battle events is bringing ETY•Plugs to marching drummers at stops along the DCI summer tour.
Etymotic was a recent exhibitor at the Winter Guard International (WGI) finals, and has been making the rounds at music education events like the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) and The Midwest Clinic. “It all adds up,” said Etymotic’s Charlene Clements, Global Sales Operations Manager and Coordinator for the Adopt-a-Band Program. “We now have a generation of young people and their music teachers who are increasingly aware of the need for hearing protection in a sound-intense activity. Musicians are particularly at risk. The World Health Organization reported earlier this year that over a billion young people are now at risk of suffering cumulative and irreversible noise-induced hearing loss over the course of their lifetime.”
Etymotic developed the first high-fidelity custom and ready-fit earplugs, and remains the world leader in this category. From Vic Firth Company presentations on hearing health for music educators to Etymotic’s participation in musician’s health seminars on college campuses to its creation of the landmark video “Hear for a Lifetime” featuring marching musicians and educators, Etymotic is helping young players get in step with hearing protection.
