Farm land throughout the United States is experiencing some changes, as over the last decade new agricultural equipment has entered the marketplace. This topic is discussed in length during the newest feature by James Earl Jones in the “In America” series.
Various advancements have been made in agricultural equipment. This allows farmers to get higher yields from their crops, prepare the land faster, and do much more. While the equipment is a significant investment for the average farmer, many are choosing to purchase as it will result in a better overall season.
Many farms rely on significant amounts of labor for picking and harvesting the crops at the end of a particular season. When equipment can do the work for a farm, it can help to ensure the crops are harvested faster, preventing less spoilage.
James Earl Jones, host of “In America”, introduces this segment that discusses some of the advancements being made in agricultural equipment and how it is impacting farms and the industry as a whole across the United States. Interviews are conducted with industry professionals, and there will be examples of some of the equipment being utilized in the field.
“In America” is distributed to public television stations around the country as an independent production. It is not produced by or for PBS or APT and is not affiliated with either of the organizations. Stations can air the production as they decide.
