Alma College and The Collaborative Honored with AIA Toledo Award
Toledo, Ohio (PRWEB) May 22, 2015 -- Hamilton Commons at Alma College, designed by The Collaborative, was recently awarded the highest honor by AIA Toledo. The Honor Award is decided by an international panel based on design excellence and distinction.
The 22,000 SF renovated building on the Alma, Michigan campus serves as the College’s primary dining commons. Alma College approached the design team with three goals: expand the dining capacity, improve accessibility and transform the existing facility into a recruiting showpiece. The transformation is clear with a design solution that creates a vibrant campus center while maintaining contextual continuity.
A juror described the design as a, “successful transformation of an existing student facility with the goal of improving the campus’s ability to attract students by creating informal learning spaces and strengthening the identity of the centre.”
