$20 Billion Advertising Industry Celebrates Promotional Products Work! Week
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) May 22, 2015 -- Did you know that there are nearly 33,000 promotional products companies in the United States generating over 20 billion dollars in annual revenue and employing almost 500,000 Americans?
Before social media, radio or television, businesses relied on promotional items, or advertising specialties, to get their messages to prospects and clients. Calendars, ink pens, coffee cups and other items have been imprinted with a company name, message or logo for over 200 years.
The first known promotional products in the United States were probably commemorative buttons, tracing back to 1789, when George Washington was elected president.
Today, the promotional products industry accounts for almost $20 billion in sales with over 33,000 businesses involved in manufacturing or selling of promo items. Over 500,000 individuals work in the industry, many in small businesses.
The promotional industry includes advertising specialties, giveaways, premiums and incentives, corporate gifts, awards and prizes and commemorative items or keepsakes.
Promotional Products Association Southwest (PPAS), a trade group supporting the industry in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas and Oklahoma, in partnership with The Promotional Products Association Industry (PPAI) has designated the week of May 18-22, 2015 as Promotional Products Work! Week.
In an effort to inform business and individuals about the benefits of promotional products, a special website has been established at PromoSouthwest.com http://promosouthwest.com/. This website includes ideas on how to use promotional products, as well as links to professional distributors, along with details on a speaker’s bureau that provides programs on the industry for business groups, meetups and community service groups.
