Jake’s Fireworks, the country’s biggest fireworks wholesaler and retailer, will launch the Memorial Day weekend with a flag giveaway and special sales event to benefit the families of American veterans at the Kentwood and Auburn Hills stores on Friday, May 22.

In honor of the men and women who gave their lives while serving in the U.S. military, including 225 servicemen and women from Michigan who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, Jake’s Fireworks is offering the World Class Fireworks’ “Folds of Honor” firework cake on sale for $25 throughout the Memorial Day holiday. Jake’s will donate $10 from each sale to the Folds of Honor Foundation to benefit the families of American veterans.

According to the Folds of Honor Foundation, more than one million dependents have been affected by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of these, 85 percent do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance. FoldsofHonor.org provides educational scholarships and other forms of assistance to the children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving the country.

In 2013, World Class Fireworks—known as Jake’s Fireworks to more than 250 stores throughout Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Michigan and Missouri—added the Folds of Honor Firework, a 16 shot, 500 gram cake in red, white and blue, to its product line. Since then, it has become a favorite for patriotic customers at the Kentwood superstore, and has garnered a growing fan base at the newly opened Auburn Hills store.

Individuals interested in contributing to the Folds of Honor Foundation, and those applying for scholarships are invited to visit the FoldsofHonor.org website for more information.
