Professional Healthcare Education Network Announces New Course to meet Texas Board of Nursing Requirements for RN and LVNs
STAFFORD, TX (PRWEB) May 22, 2015 -- Professional Healthcare Education Service, Inc., a Houston-area healthcare education company, announces that it is offering new continuing education courses for registered nurses (RNs) and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs). These courses are in keeping with new rules established by the Texas Board of Nursing as of January 2014 and are designed to meet ongoing continuing nursing education requirements.
The courses offered by Professional Healthcare Education Service are in keeping with the provisions of the Texas Occupations Code for nurses under section 301 ("the Nursing Practices Act"). These courses are designed to provide the additional education as established under the Code and ensure core competencies are met by registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses who are licensed by the Board of Nursing to practice in the State of Texas.
Texas Continuing Nursing Education Requirements
The continuing nursing education requirements for registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses in the State of Texas are set forth in Section 301.303 of the Texas Occupations Code. Nursing practitioners may achieve the renewal of their licensure with the state, through either the completion of a targeted continuing education program or consideration of a licensee's professional portfolio, which may include any certifications currently held. If a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurses is required to participate in a targeted continuing nursing education program, no more than 20 hours of continuing education may be required for any two-year licensing period.
New Course Offerings from Professional Healthcare Education Service
The new courses offered by Professional Healthcare Education Service that meet a registered nurse/licensed vocational nurse's targeted continuing nursing education program include: Nursing Jurisprudence and Ethics, designed to meet the two hour continuing nursing education requirement of Section 301.305 of the Texas Occupations Code. These courses must be completed before the end of every third two-year licensing period; a course on the treatment of tick-borne diseases, which is a continuing nursing education requirement under Section 301.304 of the Texas Occupations Code that licensees are encouraged to participate in during each two-year licensing period; and, a two hour course on older adult or geriatric care, designed to provide education regarding care for older populations, age 65 and older under Section 301.307 of the Texas Occupations Code.
