Houston School Announces Launch of New Grade Level
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) May 28, 2015 -- Trinity Classical School announced today the upcoming addition of 9th grade to its curriculum. The addition marks the beginning of the Rhetoric Phase of Classical education for TCS's most senior students, some of whom have attended since the school’s launch in 2009.
Classical education is made up of three phases: Grammar, from pre-K through 4th grade; Logic, from 5th through 8th grade; and Rhetoric, from 9th through 12th grade.
“Trinity Classical School was founded six years ago with just 21 students and has grown tremendously since then,” said TCS Head of School Neil Anderson. “The addition of 9th grade and the launch of our high school program means our Classical model has come full-circle; the three-part system is now complete, and we look forward to watching how our students respond to this exciting new phase of learning.”
Since its inception, the school has grown with its students, adding one grade level each year since 2012. It will continue this system of expansion in the coming years, culminating with Grade 12 in 2018.
Trinity Classical School is a collaborative, or hybrid model school, where students attend classes on campus two days per week. Learning on the remaining three days occurs at home or in study groups under the guidance of parents within a framework provided by the school. This model allows students to learn and engage with their peers while developing skills in independent research and problem solving, much like the academic experience at the college level.
“TCS is different from other schools because the environment is positive and encourages learning with both the classroom setting and at my own pace at home,” said Elizabeth Ober, who began at TCS in 2009 and will be starting 9th grade this fall. “The Rhetoric Phase is all about learning how to express yourself and your opinions, which will help me along whatever path God leads me to in my future."
Enrollment is now open for Fall of 2015. Students need not have prior experience with a Classical education model to apply. Trinity Classical School expects to have nearly 500 students in pre-K through 9th grade enrolled by this fall.
