Insurance brokers Footman James has announced its sponsorship of a special YouTube channel, Harry's Garage, celebrating one of the world’s most iconic cars on an epic adventure.

Footman James is sponsoring Harry Metcalfe’s Testarossa to the Sahara video, which charts the adventure of taking a Ferrari on a 2000 mile trip to the world’s largest hot desert.

Harry – famous for his love of all things automotive and revered as one of the most trusted sources in the industry – shot the video earlier this year; in its first week online it received more than 100,000 viewings.

Harry explained: “Back in 1995, Richard Bremner drove a Ferrari 512M all the way from the Ferrari factory to the Sahara desert for Car Magazine. To celebrate this great story, I decided to drive my 1987 Ferrari Testarossa to the Yasmina Hotel next to the Erg Chebbi dunes in the Sahara Desert, the same hotel Richard stayed in twenty years ago.”

Harry launched Evo Publications Limited in July 1998 together with a group of talented journalists; Evo magazine hit the news stands in October 1998 and soon established itself as a leading sports, performance and premium car magazine. It was eventually sold to Dennis Publishing at the end of 2013.

Harry has a long standing relationship with Footman James, having insured his very first classic with them – a 1968 Lotus Elan – in 1987. He now owns around twenty cars, including a rare Ferrari 550 Barchetta, two Ferrari Testarossas, a Lamborghini Countach QV, a Lamborghini Espada, a 1989 Porsche 911 turbo, a Mercedes SL600, two Jaguar XJS and two Jaguar XJ-C V12 Coupes.

He launched his YouTube channel in October 2014 with the aim of sharing his interest, knowledge and experience of all things motoring with a wide audience.

Harry explained: “I always try to cover what a car is really like to own, rather than just showing off for the camera; if a longterm owner of one of the cars I’m featuring discovers something new he didn’t know before, then I know I’ve done a good job!”

Harry concluded: “The support I get from Footman James is fantastic; we both have the same goal and that is to make videos that car enthusiasts want to watch. It’s a simple recipe but one that works very well – long may it continue!”
