In Recognition of National Melanoma Awareness Month, Beauty Guru Details Skin Tips to Prevent Cancer and Premature Aging

The skin is the body’s largest organ and is exposed to many environmental assaults daily. Every year more than 3.5 million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in the United States and over 90 percent are caused by the sun's ultraviolet rays (UVR).
There are several things people can do to protect themselves.
1. Avoid the sun between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM, when the sun’s rays are strongest.
2. Avoid tanning beds and cover up the body with protective clothing, hats and sunglasses.
3. Apply sunscreen, even on a cloudy day (UVA rays penetrate the deep) and re-apply sunscreen every two hours.
“Sun care products need to be broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, and for those who have had cancer or other skin diseases or sensitivity, use physical blocks instead of chemical sunscreens. Micronized zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are best,” states CaSaroll.
To go further, CaSaroll recommends the use of high powered anti-oxidants under the SPF with the likes of Skin Ceuticals Vitamin C formulations. “These anti-oxidants have been under much research about providing additional protection from the sun, repairing damaged cells, being an anti-inflammatory and preventing aging,” adds CaSaroll.
