Disability Insurance Awareness Month Means Great News for Secura Consultants and Income Protection
Minneapolis, Minnesota (PRWEB) May 28, 2015 -- According to America’s Disability Counter, nearly every seven seconds, a working-age American suffers a disabling injury or illness that will last at least one month. Despite this eye-opening statistic, many workers are without proper income protection. Nicole Blodgett, DIA, Vice President of Secura Consultants commented on the importance of this disability insurance, “The working years are a person’s opportunity to not only pay for their necessities of daily living, but also build their lifestyles, provide for their families, give to their choice of charities or communities and accumulate wealth. Disability, without a plan, can dramatically disrupt what clients work so hard to achieve financially!” Secura Consultants seeks to raise awareness of this important aspect of financial planning during May, which has been designated as Disability Insurance Awareness Month or DIAM.
DIAM was created and organized by the nonprofit Life Happens, which offers a wide range of tools and resources for advisers to create and manage their own campaigns (https://www.lifehappens.org/industry-resources/awareness-campaigns/disability-insurance-awareness-month/introduction/). Jeff Pantze, Executive Vice President of Secura Consultants, discusses how DIAM relates to Secura Consultants’ vision by stating, “Secura Consultants is laser focused on income protection. We are experts; here to offer support for all income protection opportunities, such as individual income replacement, business protection or employer provided benefits. DIAM offers advisers with less experience access to the resources and education they can use every day to help clients protect their incomes.”
Secura Consultants started out DIAM with a bang. On May 5th, Secura Consultants, along with The Plus Group, US partners, organized 20 live educational events across the country for National DI Day. Hundreds of advisors gathered to attend the premier income protection event in the nation.
Many organizations within the income protection industry are also using DIAM as an opportunity to expand on their efforts to reach wider audiences. Organizations such as Life Happens and the Council for Disability Awareness (CDA) (http://www.disabilitycanhappen.org/), organized marketing campaigns to assist advisers in reaching their clients with helpful tools, statistics, and visual aids to illustrate the importance of income protection.
Leading carriers use DIAM to unveil a number of industry changing ideas, such as a website developed by MetLife aimed towards helping advisers become more efficient with the language needed to drive disability insurance client discussions, or The Standard creating videos showing advisers how to leverage their own expertise to pivot their conversations to income protection, or Illinois Mutual releasing market specific flyers to help advisers become more efficient with their clients.
Secura Consultants is proud to support Life Happens, our carrier partners, and others in the industry in educating the public to learn about the risk of disability and the importance of income protection planning.
