Model flying pilots celebrate the Academy of Model Aeronautics Foundation’s Third Annual National Model Aviation Day
Muncie, IN (PRWEB) May 28, 2015 -- The Academy of Model Aeronautics Foundation will be celebrating the third annual National Model Aviation Day on August 15, 2015. National Model Aviation Day was created to celebrate the hobby of model aviation nation-wide and to introduce model flying to the general public.
The AMA has encouraged all of its approximately 2,350 chartered clubs to participate in the celebration by hosting events in their own communities. More than 80 clubs have registered to host National Model Aviation Day events. View our online event map to find an event near you.
For the third year in a row, all proceeds from National Model Aviation Day will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project's full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families. The AMA has continued to donate to WWP due to the great responses from clubs that felt honored to help out this charity. WWP raises public awareness and enlists support for the injured service members, helps injured service members’ aid and assist each other and provides unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured veterans. The AMA has proudly raised over $176,000 for WWP in two years.
Sponsors are a large part of what makes National Model Aviation Day a success. The AMA would like to thank the four platinum sponsors, Ready Made RC, Hobby King, Horizon Hobby, and Hobbico, and the three gold sponsors, Hostetler’s Plans, Volare Products, and RCGroups.com/FlyingGiants.com. Sponsorship opportunities are still available, click here for more information.
The AMA Foundation is selling celebratory T-shirts for National Model Aviation Day to coincide with the fundraisers being held across the country. T-shirts can be purchased on the National Model Aviation Day website for only $10.00. The deadline to purchase T-shirts has recently been extended to June 26, 2015.
