Waterloo, Ontario (PRWEB) May 28, 2015 -- Pixus Technologies, a supplier of electronic packaging systems and components and the North and South American supplier of Rittal Electronic Packaging products, has introduced the PXS0108, a 1U, 6-slot, low cost, data-grade MicroTCA® chassis. Without the need for expensive Power Modules (PMs) and Cooling Units (CUs), the PXS0108 is ideal for a wide range of communication, industrial, and defense applications that do not require all of the functionality, and associated expense, of a fully compliant MicroTCA system.

The PXS0108 has an active backplane that alleviates the need for expensive Power Modules (PMs). The backplane provides a power manager for each slot that controls and limits the management and payload power to the maximum allowed. A superior cooling design with push-pull, side-to-side air-flow removes the need for expensive Cooling Units (CUs). The chassis supports up to six mid-height AMCs and up to two MCHs for redundancy (in the redundant MCH configuration, up to four AMCs are supported).

The PXS0108 has configuration options that allow redundant power supplies, backplane topologies and FRU information devices. All AMCs are hot swappable. In the redundant configuration, MCH fail-over is supported and MCHs are hot swappable. A maximum of 400W redundant or non-redundant AC or DC power is available. The chassis dimensions are 19” wide by 1U high by 9” deep.
