Brown W. Cannon lll Joins Sorrel Sky Gallery
Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) May 27, 2015 -- Sorrel Sky Gallery is pleased to welcome photographer Brown W. Cannon lll to the Santa Fe gallery.
Brown W. Cannon lll is no ordinary photographer. He travels the world seeking out subjects that fascinate him yet it is the landscape and heritage of the West that he returns to again and again. Whether watching a thunderstorm roll in or wild horses in a vast landscape, Cannon’s camera explores his subjects in anticipation of the moments that best define an experience. He believes that there is always a story worth telling.
Cannon’s photographs of wild horses are featured in the June issue of Sunset Magazine.
Dynamic design is foundational to Cannon’s visual storytelling. He offered, “A photograph can’t reproduce the experience of life because in life we see outside the frame. I carefully consider composition to suggest activity taking place beyond the edges of my photographs.”
His work contrasts the traditional with the contemporary. While his photographs depict long-honored western subjects like cowboy culture, his presentation is strictly 21st century. Printed on aluminum and mounted in a frameless, floating format, the photographs appear to hover in front of the wall.
Cannon studied photography at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and was named one of the ‘30 photographers under 30’ to watch by PDN magazine. His photography has earned him four Lowell Thomas awards for Best Editorial Travel Features as recently as 2012.
He is a regular contributor to Travel & Leisure, Conde Nast, Men's Journal, Audubon, and Geo Saison to name a few. Cannon exhibits his work around the country including 2015 shows in Denver and Parker, Colorado; Bend and Portland, Oregon; and Charleston, South Carolina. His photographs are collected worldwide.
Sorrel Sky Gallery’s fresh approach to Western art presents a select collection of contemporary and traditional fine art and jewelry for the discerning collector. Sorrel Sky Gallery was founded in Durango, CO in 2002 and opened its Santa Fe, NM location in 2014.
