Solarize Burlington Blazes the Path for Doubling the Town's Residential Solar Capacity
Burlington, CT (PRWEB) May 27, 2015 -- Solarize Burlington, a town and state sponsored program with an innovative approach to dramatically increasing the amount of residential solar, announced the results of its 20 week program, which ended on April 9. Over that time Solarize Burlington saw a total of 45 contracts signed with over 429 kW of solar power, which more than doubled the amount of solar on residences before the program began.
The Solarize program combines discount pricing based on group purchases along with a pre-selected solar installer, Ross Solar Group and town outreach to make going solar easy and affordable for residents. As more homeowners signed up to install solar through purchase or lease agreements, the price for everyone went down – including those who installed systems earlier in the program before the maximum savings kicked in.
“Burlington is extremely proud of what we have been able to achieve through the Solarize program,” stated First Selectman Ted Shafer, “We are excited to see that so many of our residents responded to this opportunity to lower their energy bills by going solar and taking advantage of the savings on their solar installations offered through this program. We are looking forward to seeing a lot of solar panels going up across our community in the upcoming months, as installations begin.”
